    • Drop Off/Consult
Drop off an instrument for service. A tech will examine your horn and consult with you about indicated repairs or services. Most repairs take one-to-two weeks. Let us know when you need your horn, we'll work with your schedule.
    • General Repairs
Dent, broken solder joints, balky valves, etc. When you arrive we'll evaluate your instrument. Minor repairs will be done the same day. If we can't repair it while you're here we'll schedule a pick up time or arrange to ship your instrument back to you.

  • Trumpet Service

    • Trumpet Chem Clean
    • Add-on Chem Clean
Add a Chem Clean to a Precision Valve Alignment or Blueprinting Service for $100
    • Precision Valve Alignment
Your valve alignment is carefully measured and adjusted to be as perfect as we can make it. Valve stroke is adjusted by machining and installation of our own washers. A record is kept so that, if someone changes or mixes up the washers, we can return the instrument to perfect alignment.
    • Blueprinting
Blueprinting is unique to every instrument. Jim Becker, our trumpet specialist, is also a skilled player. He will check all the little things that contribute to a great instrument: valve alignment, roundness of the bell bow, rough solder joints, mis-aligned tubes, etc. The corrections he makes will push your instrument into the top two per cent.  The cost of blueprinting is determined by the amount of work needed to bring your trumpet to its optimum. When Jim has a plan he'll give you an estimate so you can decide exactly what work you want done.
    • Trumpet Valve Rebuild (set of 3)
Rebuild and refit a set of three trumpet pistons. Includes honing of pistons and casings, heavy nickel plate, replacement of corks felts, and springs (if needed).
    • Install Mouthpipe
Fit and install mouthpipe. Touch up lacquer or silver plating as needed. Silver plated instruments are treated with utmost care but some solder bleeding or loss of plating may occur.
    • Vent Valve-Trumpet
When you reposition a slide without depressing the valve the pressure differential creates a puff of air that can disrupt your embouchure. Drilling a small hole in the piston allows the pressure in the slide to equalize. (Since the vented valve no longer holds the slide with air pressure a stop rod or pin is essential.)
  • Horn Service

    • Horn Chem Clean
Your instrument is completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned.  We remove old oil and grease as well as calcium carbonate and copper carbonate deposits. Your instrument is then reassembled, re-lubricated, and restrung. Springs are inspected and replaced if necessary. Regular chemical cleaning greatly retards the process of de-zincification and the development of pink spots.
    • Complete Valve Service-Horn
A complete mechanical tune-up for your horn. We chem clean the instrument, adjust the bearings for fast, silent action, replace the rotor stops, springs (if needed), and restring. Slides are adjusted for tightness and optimal action.
    • Rotary Valve Rebuild (set of 4)
    • Drill Oil Ports
We drill oiling holes in the rotor bearing so that you can get oil into this vital area. Most sticking valves are caused by a buildup of corrosion in the top bearing caused by inadequate lubrication.
    • Turn Down Stop Arms
Reducing the diameter of the stop arms results in a markedly faster valve action.
    • Hand Rest/Finger Hook Installation
      (part not included)
    • Install Buna-N Rotor Stops-Horn
We install our special synthetic rubber bumpers in your choice of hardness and align and restring your valves. Our bumpers are impervious to oil and will not split or deteriorate with use. They won't need any further attention for four or five years.
    • Screw Bell Conversion
Jim will round up the bell, remove any major dents, and install your choice of an Alexander or Engelbert Schmid bell ring. On lacquered horns he will re lacquer the ball tail and flare so your bell ring will look like it was installed at the factory.
  • Trombone Service

    • Trombone Slide Service
A complete tune up for your slide. We chem clean, remove dents in slide tubes, and straighten and align. Your slide will be quick and even, top to bottom.
    • Trombone Rotor Cleaning
    • Open Rotor Port
The ports in the rotors of many trombones are undersized. This causes a restriction in the air flow that can cause the F attachment to feel stuffy and unresponsive. Opening up the ports in the rotor to full size can make a dramatic improvement in the playing qualities of your horn.
    • Complete Valve Service-Trombone
. We chem clean your valve section, adjust the bearings for fast, silent action, replace the rotor stops, spring (if needed), and restring or adjust your mechanical linkage.
    • Mini-bal Links-Trombone
Modern Mini-Bal links are silent, fast, require no adjustment and almost no maintenance. Older mechanical linkage trombones as well as newer instruments with inferior Chinese linkage parts can benefit from our German-made precision linkages.
  • Mouthpiece

  • Tuba/Euph Service

    • Chem Clean Rotary Tuba
Your instrument is completely disassembled and thou roughly cleaned.  We remove old oil and grease as well as calcium carbonate and copper carbonate deposits. Your instrument is then reassembled, re-lubricated, and all corks, felts and bumpers are replaced. Springs are inspected and replaced if necessary. Regular chemical cleaning greatly retards the process of de-zincification and the development of pink spots.
    • Install buna-n Rotor Stops-Tuba
We install our special synthetic rubber bumpers and align and restring your valves. Our bumpers are impervious to oil and will not split or deteriorate with use. They won't need any further attention for two to three years.
    • Vent Rotary Valve
When you reposition a slide without depressing the valve the pressure differential creates a puff of air that can disrupt your embouchure. Drilling a small hole in the valve casing allows the pressure in the slide to equalize. It does not affect the tightness of the valve.
    • Mini-bal links-Tuba
Modern Mini-Bal links are silent, fast, require no adjustment and almost no maintenance. Older tubas as well as newer instruments with inferior Chinese linkage parts can benefit from our German-made precision linkages.
    • Complete Valve Service-Tuba
A complete mechanical tune-up. We chem clean your tuba, adjust the bearings for fast, silent action, and replace the rotor stops and springs, if needed. Slides are adjusted for tightness and optimal action.
    • Chem Clean Euphonium
Your instrument is completely disassembled and thou roughly cleaned.  We remove old oil and grease as well as calcium carbonate and copper carbonate deposits. Your instrument is then reassembled, re-lubricated, and all corks, felts and bumpers are replaced. Springs are inspected and replaced if necessary. Regular chemical cleaning greatly retards the process of de-zincification and the development of pink spots.
