    • Drop Off/Send In
Drop off or send in an instrument for service. A tech will examine your horn and consult with you about indicated repairs or services. Most repairs take less than two weeks. Let us know when you need your horn, we'll work with your schedule.

If you need your repair on a same-day schedule you can book an appointment here. (Some major repairs may take more than one day to complete.)
    • General Repairs
Dents, broken solder joints, balky valves, etc. When you arrive we'll evaluate your instrument. Minor repairs can usually be done the same day. If we can't repair it while you're here we'll schedule a pick up time or arrange to ship your instrument back to you.
  • Trumpet Services

    • Trumpet Chem\Ultrasonic Cleaning
Your instrument is completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned.  We remove old oil and grease as well as calcium carbonate and copper carbonate deposits using a combination of chemical and ultrasonic processes. Your instrument is then reassembled, re-lubricated, slides are aligned for smooth action, and play tested. All corks and pads are replaced. Springs are inspected and replaced if necessary. Regular chemical cleaning greatly retards the process of de-zincification ("red rot") and can double the life of your instrument.
    • Vent Valve-Trumpet
When you re-position a slide without depressing the valve the pressure differential creates a puff of air that can disrupt your embouchure. Drilling a small hole in the piston allows the pressure in the slide to equalize.
  • Horn Services

    • Horn Chem/Ultrasonic Cleaning
Your instrument is completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned.  We remove old oil and grease as well as calcium carbonate and copper carbonate deposits using a combination of chemical and/or ultrasonic processes. Your instrument is then reassembled, lubricated, tuning slide legs are adjusted for smooth action, strung, and play tested. Springs are inspected and replaced if necessary. Regular chemical cleanings greatly retards the process of de-zincification ("red rot" or pink spots) and can double the life of the instrument. (Note to owners of Engelbert Schmid horns: We have many years of experience cleaning instruments and have done tests on our processes to make sure they are safe for instruments, players, and repair technicians. We don't use any chemicals that attack the metal of your instrument. Mr. Schmid has very specific ideas about how his horns should be maintained. If you wish, we are happy to maintain your instrument using his procedures and recommendations.)
    • Complete Valve Service-Horn
A complete mechanical tune-up for your horn. If your valves "klick-klack", this is a service that will help. We chemically clean the instrument, adjust the bearings for fast, silent action, machine out any end or side-to-side valve play, replace the rotor stops, springs (if needed), and restring. Slides are adjusted for tightness and optimal action.
    • Hand Rest/Finger Hook Installation
Install a handrest or fingerhook of your choosing. We stock a few different kinds of adjustable rests to facilitate easier holding of your horn.
    • Install Rotor Stops-Horn
We install our special synthetic rubber bumpers in your choice of hardness and align and restring your valves. Our bumpers are impervious to oil and will not split or deteriorate with use. They won't need any further attention for four or five years.
    • Drill Oil Ports
We drill oiling holes in the rotor bearing so that you can get oil into this vital area. Most sticking valves are caused by a buildup of corrosion in the top bearing caused by inadequate lubrication.
    • Screw Bell Conversion
We will detach the fixed bell of your horn, remove any major dents, and install your choice of an Alexander or Engelbert Schmid bell ring. On lacquered horns we will re-lacquer the bell. This service may take more then one day
    • Install Mouthpipe or Bell
We can fit and install bells and mouthpipes on most trumpets. We can supply requested parts for you, or install parts supplied by you.
    • Trombone Valve Cleaning
Your valve/bell section is completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. We remove old oil and grease as well as calcium carbonate and copper carbonate deposits using a combination of chemical and/or ultrasonic processes. Your bell section is then reassembled, lubricated, tuning slide legs are adjusted for smooth action, strung (if string action), and play tested. Springs are inspected and replaced if necessary. Regular chemical cleanings greatly retards the process of de-zincification ("red rot" or pink spots) and can double the life of the instrument.
  • Trombone Services

    • Trombone Slide Service
A complete tune up for your hand slide. We chem clean, remove dents, straighten, and align your slide tubes. Your slide will be quick and even, top to bottom.
    • Complete Valve Service-Trombone
Includes a Trombone Valve Cleaning. Adjust the bearings for fast, silent action, replace the rotor stops, spring (if needed), and restring or adjust your mechanical linkage. Everything we can do to make your valve function as best as it can short of a full valve re-build.
    • Open Rotor Port
The ports in the rotors of many trombones are undersized. This causes a restriction in the air flow that can cause the F attachment to feel stuffy and unresponsive. Opening up the ports in the rotor to full size can make a dramatic improvement in the playing qualities of your horn.
    • Mini-bal Links-Trombone
Modern Mini-Bal links are silent, fast, require no adjustment and almost no maintenance. Older mechanical linkage trombones as well as newer instruments with inferior linkage parts can benefit from our German-made precision linkages.
  • Tuba/Euph Services

    • Chem Clean Euphonium
    • Chem Clean Rotary or Piston Tuba

A complete mechanical tune-up. We chem clean your tuba, adjust the bearings for fast, silent action, and replace the rotor stops and springs, if needed. Slides are adjusted for tightness and optimal action.
    • Vent Tuba Piston Valve
When you reposition a slide without depressing the valve the pressure differential creates a puff of air that can disrupt your embouchure. Drilling a small hole in the valve casing allows the pressure in the slide to equalize. It does not affect the tightness of the valve.
    • Mini-bal Valve Linkages-Tuba
Modern Mini-Bal ball & socket links are silent, fast, require no adjustment and almost no maintenance. Older tubas as well as newer instruments with inferior imitation linkage parts can benefit from our German-made precision linkages.
